6 Surefire Hangover Helpers

Surfing the web this morning and this article @Delish popped out at me.
6 Surefire Hangover Helpers

#1. Coffee

Coffee can be especially helpful when you’re battling a hangover. The jolt of caffeine can alleviate a headache and help get you going on a morning when you'd rather just stay in bed. If you can't muster the strength to brew a pot yourself, order a strong cup in a big size from your local barista.
Cinnamon Coffee

Set up the coffeemaker before the party. Then fill your travel mug with this blend that adds a touch of comforting cinnamon.

#2. Fruit Juice
If you’re hung-over, you’re likely dehydrated too. Rebalance your body by drinking plenty of fluids. We find that fruit juices often go down easier than plain water. Some people sip sports drinks, to help restore electrolytes and kick those awful hangover symptoms. If your stomach is upset, which it probably is, try seltzer or a soda like ginger ale — the fizz action is famous for soothing the stomach.
Iced Fruit Punch

This bubbly fruit punch is a good choice on a bad morning. Freeze juice ahead of time and mix with seltzer and soda before serving yourself or your suffering sweetie.

#3. Smoothies

Coat your angry tummy with something that tastes better than the pink stuff in a bottle and has natural sugars to give you a boost. Try recipes that call for bananas, which are high in potassium and help with the aching muscles that are common after a night of alcohol indulgence.
Banana and Strawberry Smoothie
This at-home recipe can help shake off a rough morning — we promise it's worth enduring the sound of the blender.

#4. Greasy Spoon

Sometimes a greasy burger and fries is just what you need to survive a hangover. Often a great predrink precaution, a big meal can slow alcohol's effects and help partygoers consume less. The day after, a heavier, fatty meal can absorb alcohol that may still be sloshing around.
All-American Burger
Don't close the blinds and go back to bed. Get up and get yourself one of these.

#5. Hair of the Dog
Although more alcohol may be the last thing on your mind, some swear there is no substitute for a cocktail or frosty draft beer to kick a nasty hangover. Enhance a postparty brunch with a mimosa, Bloody Mary, or beer, and clear your calendar for a lazy day of recovery.
The Perfect Bloody Mary

This secret weapon is garnished with a stalk of celery, which we hope you won't consider breakfast.

#6. Breakfast Anytime
Whether you went to bed at 5 a.m. or woke up at 5 a.m., after a night of overindulging, breakfast should definitely be on the menu. A greasy plate of eggs and bacon is a likely choice, but you can eat healthier while you recover by choosing turkey bacon or egg whites. After all, your body has suffered enough, hasn't it?
Diana Green's Breakfast Sandwich

A healthier version of the sandwich that has helped countless college students make it to class.

What was I thinking??

Today hubs n I took the kids Ice Skating. Since hubs doesn't ice skate, I had to lace up a pair of skates in which has been 30 years since I put on a pair. I was in grade 1, and now I remember why I chose to go rollerskating instead of ice skating in elementary school.
Give me a pair of roller skates over ice skates any day...lol...ok so if it kills me,
2010 is the year I learn to Ice Skate.
Plus inline skates are on ALL of our lists this 2010 year. The boys can inline skate sorta, but the ice skating is harder...so if I can skate better I can help Eman since
he has very poor co-ordination.
Oh plus I think my neighbourhood was the only place in my city that it snowed upon. Woke up to a a teeny bit of snow but it wasn't anywhere else...soooo weird.
Time to make dinner for the fam!
Have a great night.

A New Year, A New Dooo!!

My soon to be 11 yr old son had longer hair than me in the summer.
In September we got alot chopped off but it was still down to his chin.
So today he decided he wanted a "FAUXHAWK" and I let him because it's been 3 LONG LONG years since he had really short hair! I am so glad he went with this cut. He looks soooo handsome!
I've missed being able to see his face completely without being covered by a mop & some bangs.
Here is a collage of his July - December Hair Styles.

Can't believe there are only 2 days left in this year.
I have NO 2010 calendars yet...lol...guess I should go out and get some..lol..
TTFN!!

Merry Christmas & Happy Boxing Day!

Ok so today is the day after Christmas which in Canada is called BOXING DAY!
It's like Black Friday, don't ask me why its the day RIGHT after Christmas and why ppl line up wee hours in the morning to get cheap deals on all sorts of items. Personally I think it's a lil backwards. So I've never partaken in the whole "BOXING DAY" festivities.
So while tons of crazy people are out and about spending more money and getting irritated by crowds and whatever else, I am enjoying a lazy day at home with the kids! It's nice to sit and not have to worry about doing anything..lol....thinking about taking the kids ice skating tomorrow.
Anyways I had a really great Christmas with my WHOLE family.
Mom and I did ALL the cooking as USUAL, and every year mom says...NEXT Christmas we aren't cooking anymore...lol...this year I think my mom actually means that this was our last big Christmas dinner for a while.
When we have guests, we can't sit and relax when we are in the kitchen cooking all the time.
So this New Years dinner will be the first time we are actually going out for dinner.
There will only be 8 of us. I think Chinese Food is what the plan is....not too sure.
It's hard to believe the kids have been home for a whole week already. The time has just slipped way from us! My niece is visiting us from Northern BC, she arrived last Monday and is leaving this Monday so my boys will be sad to see her leave. We've been so busy the kids haven't even had time to call up any friends to play with. My baby turns 7 in 12 more days so I have a bday party to start planning as well...*sigh*..lol...
Anyways I'm outta here for now.
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas & Have a Super New Year in 2010.
Happy Holidays

Ok Seriously, WHY......

Can't I seem to keep up with all the days passing???
Today is December 7th, 2009??? Seriously?? Dang.
Christmas is just 18 days away! Are you all done your Christmas shopping cuz I sure in the heck haven't...lol...I have more things to get & I still have to get my christmas cards out!
I am soooo not organzied this year!!
One of my MANY New Years Resolutions is to be more organized,
and to de-clutter alot of crap in my head & house.
Ok so for those you looking to make some gifts this Christmas please check out this blog!
Holiday Gifts from the Kitchen
Lots of great gifts made straight from the heart!
I have yet to do any baking yet, sadly I am just not feeling the Christmas Spirit.
Not to say that I am feeling Ebineezer like either...lol.. I love Christmas but for some strange reason I just don't feel ready for it! Seems like the kids JUST started school.
Anyhoo a pic of my boys in front of my mom's Christmas tree, to help
raise the Christmas Spirit..lol...

Hope you are having a Magnificant Monday!
